Josh Cunningham was Fivenines’ first Apprentice with Leeds City College.  He began his studies undertaking an IT Apprenticeship at Level 2 and worked in the customer facing area of the business, supporting customer needs. Josh has now completed his Advanced Apprenticeship in ITC Professional Competence and has moved into the business support team.  He is currently considering whether to progress on completion of his Advanced Apprenticeship to a Higher Apprenticeship – this will include a Foundation Degree in IT!
As Josh has progressed, this has given an opportunity for Fivenines to take on a new Apprentice, Polly Rodgers. Polly has progressed quickly and provides diagnostics and sales assistance to customers.
The company has found the Apprenticeship route so effective in training and developing new staff that they have also taken on Danny Backhouse. Danny has already completed his Level 2 in IT  and is now working towards his Advanced Apprenticeship doing network support.

“Employing talented young individuals and enrolling them on the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme through Leeds City College is a fundamental part of our business plan and company philosophy. Our employees are our most valued asset and the college is an integral part of our training and development strategy. The apprentice scheme provides the core skills we require from our technicians along with enhancing our company profile through professional certification and vendor accreditations. We are certainly reaping the benefits of the scheme with our most valued engineers being developed through it. Our business continues to grow and a large part of our success can be attributed to the commitment, drive and quality of our staff along with the support and feedback of Leeds City College.”  Michael Canavan, Technical Director
